HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP
FOR FENTRESS COUNTY STUDENTS
The Fentress County Historical Society has announced a $500 Scholarship for Fentress County students graduating from either Clarkrange High School or York Agricultural Institute in the Spring of 2012 and planning to enter college in the Fall of 2012. To be eligible applicants must meet the requirements set for the scholarship by the Society and demonstrate that they are planning to pursue a degree from a four-year accredited college or university. Preference may be given for those students intending to study in the fields of history or social studies. In addition, selection of the winning applicant will be based on academic achievement, evidence of need, appropriateness to the purposes of the scholarship, and other factors specified in the application package.
The purpose of the scholarship is to reward the chosen student for his/her educational achievements and to assist the student who wants to pursue his/her education beyond the high school level. The Society believes that this scholarship is an investment in the life of an individual who has the potential for benefiting our own county and region through their chosen career.
The academic scholarship program will be administered by the Scholarship Committee made up of active members of the Historical Society. Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship are encouraged to pick up an application package at Fentress County Library or from their school guidance office.
